Issued from 1971-1978 these coins were designed to honor both President Dwight D Eisenhower and the first landing of a man on the moon. This was the last dollar coin to contain a proportional amount of base metal to low denomination coins; it has the same amount of copper-nickel as two Kennedy half dollars, four Washington Quarters, or ten Roosevelt Dimes.
